Is The Big CRM really free?

Absolutely. The term free doesn’t just mean ‘free trial’ like it does for so many apps in their marketing and advertising campaigns. With The Big CRM, free means free, forever.

Yes, of course there are some premium plans and premium features you can pay to use – but you don’t have to, ever. If the free version of The Big CRM is enough for you – then we’re happy.

What's the difference between your CRM and other CRM's?

We cannot speak on behalf of all or even most of the CRM providers out there, because that would be presumptuous and probably incorrect on many  fronts. All we can say is our impression of our CRM vs others, and what we hope to be some simple but critical differences:

  • our CRM is free, forever, on the Free plan – no, we aren’t the only CRM in the world to offer that, but we only know of a very small number of CRM’s that do offer it so it certainly distinguishes us from MOST of the CRM’s out there
  • our CRM is aimed at small to medium businesses – that’s they key difference. Most CRM’s are aimed to larger businesses with the spare time, resources and budget to set up, maintain, and utilise paid CRM’s. We’ve rolled out our free, cloud-based CRM knowing that (we predict) 80% to 90% of users will be small to medium businesses, and will stay on the free plan – all we hope to get back for ourselves from covering the costs of those free users, is to build up our reputation as a good, reliable CRM provider – and that will get our name out to the Premium users at some point
  • we’ve utilised many CRM’s ourselves over the years – the main issue we’v had with them is that (a) they are too complex (b) they take too long to set up (c) they add too much additional administrative overhead to the sales and customer service process. So we’ve tried to provide a CRM that can be up and running in minutes, is simple in layout and has as few clicks between ‘intent’ and ‘action’ as possible for users – but can also be customised, over time, by our users to really mould to their organisation’s needs
  • our CRM’s Premium plans include a Help Desk, and… in the not too distant future… an integrated Accounting module – most CRM’s out there have neither. And that disconnect between 3 areas that we belive are completely intertwined in reality, but completely disconnected in software: CRM, Help Desk and Accounting – we believe NEED to be closely connected. Sales is great, but if Customer Service (Help Desk) doesn’t look after those customers, the cost of winning new customers generally far outweighs the cost of KEEPING customers – so Help Desk is critical. And being able to easily and instantly see a customer’s financial interactions (Accounting) in conjunction with Customer Service (Help Desk) we think is just logical, and invaluable

What is the difference between the 100% free CRM, and the premium plans?

The critical differences between the free CRM and the premium plans are that premium plans (depending on which plan you select) can accommodate for:

  • more users
  • unlimited creation of contacts, companies, and other key CRM inputs
  • email (HTML) templates, email campaigns and email automation
  • automations of activities such as emails, updating fields, assigning tasks, adding activities and scheduling
  • custom fields to make the CRM reflect your industry, terminology and organisation
  • reports
  • ticket system / Help Desk
  • custom Help Desk fields
  • CRM to Help Desk integration
  • integrations with 3rd party apps (Zendesk, Mailchimp, Salesforce etc)

Are there different types of users in the CRM?

Yes – there are 2 key CRM user types:

  • CRM Manager
  • CRM Agent

Aside from these user types who can input data into and manage the CRM in general, the 3rd critical overarching type is:

  • Customer

Please note that a ‘customer’ user can be more specifically categorised within the CRM with these subcategory user types:

  • Leads
  • Opportunities
  • Customers  (ie leads or opportunities that have been ‘won’ as paying Customers)

What support do you provide?

For free CRM users (Free plan) the support provided is limited to our Support Documentation. But the documentation is pretty exhaustive, so with a little bit of light reading, most issues should be readily addressed within said documentation.

For Premium plans we offer paid support on a timed basis. Premium users also have full access to the Support Documentation obviously, and any bugs or system issues we will of course resolve as part of maintining, growing and improving our platform – but if Premium users wish to get live chat support or ticket based support, then timed and paid support terms will apply.

What is included in your free CRM?

The free CRM has the critical features that we think are absolute essentials for recording, maintaining and utilising prospective customer and customer information in order to maximise sales, and maximise customer happiness.

These are:

  1. Contact details – name, address, phone numbers, demographic data (eg region, date of birth etc), company the contact is associated with… and more
  2. Company details – company name, address, phone numbers, etc
  3. Notes – every meaningful interaction with a prospective customer or prospective customer, should have some form of digital trail via a good CRM – so having the ability for CRM users to write unlimited notes, which are automatically time and date-stamped, in relation to all contact or company interactions is critical
  4. Activities – recording activities to ensure that leads and customer interactions are all part of the invaluable data profile for leads and customers, so that there is a record of what has happened, by whom, and how that information might be capitalised on to improve sales
  5. Schedule – Activities are great for recording what interactions have happened with leads and customers. A Schedule that allows for future scheduling of follow-up activities is critical to converting potential sales into realised sales

What does CRM actually stand for?

CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management, and generally refers to a tool (ie software) that helps facilitate and or manage the process of… you guessed it… customer relationship management.

There are some great CRM tools out there. We certainly didn’t invent the idea nor the reality of CRM software, we’ve just developed and released a free version of it that we hope will help to open up the accessibility of good, user-friendly CRM software to small to medium businesses. Because most small businesses (and or organisations including sporting groups, not for profits, etc) do NOT have a CRM. They’re stuck managing the contact details, interaction history, follow ups etc for all of their customers (and or members) by good ‘ol fashioned, often clunky and almost always a little confusing… spreadsheets.

So the whole point of The Big CRM is to give big functionality at either no… or (for Premium Plan users) small cost.

Every business of every size relies on customers. And yet CRM systems / tools / software have, up until now at least, typically only been accessible to bigger businesses. Which is paradoxical to us because the vast majority of businesses on the planet, have 3 or less employees INCLUDING the owner. And these small businesses do not, mostly, have anything like a CRM tool. They have spreadsheets, emails… and headaches.

Customers, most business owners will presumably agree, are the lifeblood of business. But taking care of them or turning prospective customers / leads into actual paying customers, and doing that WITHOUT a powerful, practical CRM… seems nuts to us. So, we built The Big CRM and made it a cloud-based, free-to-all tool to bridge that gap.

And yes, sure, we aren’t total altruists. We want a section of our users to upgrade to Premium Plans and features, because without that we don’t have revenue. But we’re more than fine with the idea of most of our users NOT paying a dollar, ever, to use the free version of our Customer Relationship Management software. Because that was the problem (how to get a CRM out to all businesses, not just big businesses) we wanted to help solve.

So what does CRM stand for? In general: Customer Relationship Management. To us: Customers Really Mattter.

Also, according to a very powerful and (we think) very cool keyword research tool we utilise called SEMRush, aside from the question “What does CRM stand for?” which apparently gets around 8,100 searches globally per month via major search engines, the other variations of this question are:

“What is CRM software?” (3,600 searches per month)

“What is a CRM system?” (2,900 searches per month)

“What does CRM mean?” (1,600 searches per month)
